About the Qibla

The Qibla is the direction Muslims face during prayer (Salah). It points toward the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and specifically toward the Kaaba — the cube-shaped structure at its center. The obligation to face the Qibla was established in the second year after the Hijrah, when the direction was changed from Jerusalem (Bayt al-Maqdis) to Makkah.

The Kaaba is located at approximately 21.4225° N, 39.8262° E. From North America, the Qibla faces northeast. From Europe, it faces southeast. From East Asia, it faces west-southwest.
